Brad Johnson, owner and founder of Peaks & Places, has personally spent more than 20 years exploring new trekking and climbing routes in the Cordillera Blanca and Cordillera Huayhuash mountain ranges of Peru. Brad authored and self-published the book Classic Climbs of the Cordillera Blanca, Peru, considered by many climbers to be the best climbing guide book to the Cordillera Blanca mountains of Peru. Brad has also
Co-authored and published the New 2004, 1:50,000 Topographical Map to the Cordillera Huayhuash. Using satalite imagery and GPS data this is the best map available for that region.

In 1987, Peaks & Places was one of the first companies to begin offering the Mt. Salcantay and Inca Trail trek to Machu Picchu. Today that is still one of our favorite trips and we feel it is the best way to arrive at Machu Picchu.

In May of 2005 Peaks & Places organized and led one of the first exploratory treks through the heart of the Vilcanota mountain range, east of Mt. Ausangate. In the past we have also guided groups around Mt. Ausangate and to its 20,901 foot summit.

Although we specialize in Peru, we have also logged many trips to Nepal, leading trekking and climbing trips in the Everest, Makalu and Annapurna regions.
