2009/2010 Revised Edition
Guidebook by Brad Johnson
Finalist at the 2003 Banff Mountain Book Festival

Classic Climbs of the Cordillera Blanca is, by far, the most beautiful and comprehensive guidebook yet produced about Peru's - and South America's - most famous mountain range.

Revised Edition includes:

  • Updated information and prices on: Transportation, Hotels, Restaurants, porters, burros, cooks, guides costs, Huascaran National Park, rescue information, hospitals, and logistical information.
  • New photos .
  • New route information on Alpamayo, Huandoy Sur, Yanapaccha, Vallunaraju and Ocshapalca.
  • New map changes for the Llanganuco and Llaca valleys.

With 182 spectacular color images, including 16 panoramas, and detailed descriptions, author Brad Johnson leads us to the best that the Cordillera Blanca has to offer. Also included are 12 three-dimensional maps, using a cartographic technique never before presented in a climbing guidebook. Johnson's savvy travel tips and colorful anecdotes support the conventional wisdom that nowhere else are high-altitude climbs so enjoyable, accessible and inexpensive.

Here, for the first time, is all the information you need about the Cordillera Blanca under one cover.

Foreword by Adrian Burgess, 2nd ascent of the Pergot Route, Huascaran Norte, Peru.

Dust Jacket Praise For Classic Climbs Of The Cordillera Blanca:
"This is an exceptionally fine guidebook to an exceptionally fine mountain range. The large format does full justice to the mouth-watering photos and the unique computer-generated maps provide clear orientation to the peaks and valleys. All the necessary information is here. Classic Climbs of the Cordillera Blanca, will assume its permanent place on my bookshelf, alongside Gaston Rebuffat's The Mont Blanc Massif, The 100 Finest Routes, but only after a long run as the centerpiece of my coffee table."
—Jeff Lowe, Author of The Ice Experience and Ice World
